How it works

By financing this project, we are promoting the conservation of this part of the Amazon rainforest, a region marked by high deforestation rates, and its ecosystems. Thanks to this initiative, the area is constantly monitored through the use of modern technological equipment and enhanced, while at the same time several species of fauna and flora, such as the Chiropotes satanas, currently at risk of extinction, find protection. Of the mammal and bird species recorded in the project area, eleven deserve special attention as they are on the list of endangered species.

Where does it develop?

The project is developed in Brazil in the state of Pará and protects an area of 29,000 hectares allowing 67,458 kg of CO₂ to be captured annually.

Certifications

The project has received CCB (Climate, Community and Biodiversity) certification from Verra. Maisa protects several animal species, such as the Chiropotes satanas, which are currently endangered. Of the mammal and bird species recorded in the project area in fact, eleven deserve special attention as they are on the endangered species list.

Benefits

Maisa REDD+ has brought contributions to local communities; through continued funding, the project has enabled the creation of several jobs and, through forest protection, improved economic growth in the area. Often the health of the forest reflects the state of well-being of the area's inhabitants.
