What is a Carbon-Offset Event?
A Carbon-Offset Event is an initiative in which all generated CO₂eq emissions are first quantified, then reduced, and finally offset through certified carbon offsetting projects.
How is the carbon footprint of a corporate event calculated?
Up2You uses a calculation model based on LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 14064), considering all direct and indirect emissions related to:
- participant and staff travel;
- setup and venue;
- catering and materials;
- electricity and resource consumption;
- any international travel.
The calculation provides a detailed report useful for ESG reporting.
How does event carbon offsetting work?
Once the non-reducible emissions have been calculated, they are offset by purchasing carbon credits from Gold Standard and VCS certified projects that avoid or remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. Event participants are involved in choosing the projects via QR codes and receive a compensation certificate to share on their social media channels.
What is the difference between a sustainable event and a Carbon-Offset Event?
- A sustainable event adopts general practices of environmental, social, and economic responsibility;
- a Carbon-Offset Event scientifically measures the CO₂eq generated, reduces it, and then fully offsets it.
Which companies can benefit from a Carbon-Offset Event?
All types of companies: small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), multinationals, public bodies, startups, etc.
Hosting Carbon-Offset Events offers several advantages, including:
- improvement of the company's ESG profile;
- greater visibility in sustainable communication;
- competitive advantages in public tenders and stakeholder relations;
- strengthening of employer branding and team engagement;
- improved participant engagement.
