With more than a century of manufacturing history behind it, Cogne Acciai Speciali is an Italian manufacturing standout and a world leader in the production of stainless steel and nickel alloys.
Well aware of the heavy environmental impact inherent in steel production, Cogne launched a voluntary program to reduce its emissions some time ago.
To build further on its sustainability journey, Cogne turned to Up2You and chose CliMax, the proprietary platform designed to get past the problems that come with traditional spreadsheets. With CliMax, the company was able to streamline its reporting process using a tool that is innovative, intuitive, and easy to share across the team.

The project
The project with Cogne Acciai Speciali began with an update to the Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions calculation the company had already run in previous years, and with the loading of that data into CliMax, Up2You's proprietary platform.
In parallel, work began on a decarbonization strategy aimed at driving a steady reduction in emissions across the business.
Up2You also supported the company in producing its Product Carbon Footprint, guiding it through the external audit against ISO 14067 and the drafting of the accompanying report. At the same time, customization of the platform began so that it could also be used to calculate the Product Carbon Footprint.
This second phase is still under way and will take several months of work before the team can move on to structured data entry and the first calculation results.
The partnership between Up2You and Cogne is ongoing, but from the very first activities the company gained a complete, up-to-date view of its emissions — data that is essential to putting a genuinely effective climate strategy in place. The information gathered will be central to guiding future strategic choices and embedding sustainability ever more firmly into business processes.
