Giuliani: ESG manifesto publication, Scope 1 and 2 emissions calculation, emissions offsetting, and participation in the PlaNet Green Cup
The challenge
Giuliani is an Italian pharmaceutical company with more than 130 years of history behind it and a daily commitment to innovation and product quality.
In recent years the company has gone through a period of strong expansion that doubled revenue in a very short time. That growth led management to recognize the importance of integrating sustainability as a strategic lever to steer development over the long term.
To manage this new phase in a structured way, Giuliani chose to work with Up2You, aiming to measure and improve its environmental impact and to get ahead of future regulatory requirements.
The partnership took shape with the publication of an ESG manifesto and the adoption of the CliMax module of the Up2You Platform, used to calculate Scope 1 and 2 emissions and then offset them. Giuliani also used the PlaNet gamification platform to take part in the PlaNet Green Cup.

Needs and objectives
Build a structured program
To get a solid sustainability program off the ground, the company needed a partner that could help it work out the best route to take.
Train the team
Before moving into carbon management, Giuliani wanted to build awareness among its employees of the sustainability topics they were about to take on.
Prepare for future regulatory requirements
The company is not currently required to report on its sustainability performance. Even so, Giuliani knew it had to move ahead of the regulation to be ready for the deadlines set at the European level.
Initial challenges
Knowing where to start
Launching a sustainability program is no simple task, given how much legislation there is on the subject and how complex it is. European rules also change constantly, and staying current is never easy.
Sizing up the workload
When a company sets out to advance sustainability, it is never easy to gauge how much work will be involved or what resources to allocate, in terms of both money and people.
Why Giuliani chose Up2You
- Consistent support from Up2You in advancing sustainability across the business
- Hands-on support from the Up2You team in training Giuliani's employees and guiding them through the strategic choices the company had to make
- The ability to tailor the platform to the client's needs

The project
The project with Giuliani began in 2023, when the company decided to take a structured approach to environmental sustainability. The first step was calculating Scope 1 and 2 emissions for 2022 using CliMax, one of the modules of the Up2You Platform. The analysis was followed by offsetting those emissions, evidence of the company's real commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
In 2024, to give continuity and strategic direction to the work already under way, Giuliani worked with Up2You to draft its ESG manifesto. The document sets out clearly how the company intends to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. Also in 2024, Giuliani updated its Scope 1 and 2 emissions calculation for 2023, again followed by offsetting.
In parallel, in the spring of that year, the company took part in the PlaNet Green Cup, the gamification program Up2You created to get employees actively involved in sustainability. The experience was dynamic and hands-on, advancing internal training and spreading a more informed culture.
In 2025, Giuliani continued along the same road, turning to Up2You's services for the third year running. As in the previous year, the company updated its Scope 1 and 2 emissions calculation.
Thanks to this ongoing partnership, Giuliani has been able to advance sustainability across the business in a solid and consistent way, involving the entire organization and generating positive impact, both in environmental performance and in competitive positioning.
