Sodai S.p.A.: decarbonization roadmap and better environmental performance

Sodai S.p.A. is an environmental engineering and water management company working in the purification and treatment of primary water and process wastewater. It is now part of Nijhuis Saur Industries (NSI), Saur group, a global leader in solid and adaptive solutions for the sustainable and resilient use of water and for energy and resource recovery.

‍The company offers innovative, sustainable technologies and an integrated environmental service, drawing on know-how built up over nearly forty years in the field and continuous investment in Research and Development. Its mission is to give water the value it deserves: the company calls it Mission Water.

Objective

Sodai S.p.A. chose us to launch a decarbonization program and position itself as a company committed to fighting climate change.

Solutions

Work with Sodai S.p.A. began in 2021 with the calculation of Scope 1 and 2 emissions. We identified the company's main emission sources and delivered a results report built to GHG Protocol standards.

In 2023, Sodai S.p.A. decided to go further and not stop at calculating its carbon footprint. With the measurement in hand, we developed a decarbonization strategy, pinpointing the actions that would cut the company's emissions and offsetting the emissions it could not reduce through certified projects.

In 2024 we extended the scope of the project to another company in the NSI group, Unidro, and focused on calculating Scope 3 emissions and on setting up a decarbonization strategy aligned with SBTi.

Sodai S.p.A. also chose to add training sessions to its program through our Masterclasses, bringing in house the know-how and the technology it needs to monitor its own environmental progress.
