Xenia: Emissions calculation for publication in the sustainability report

The company

Xenia S.p.A. specializes in the hotel segment and today has a strong presence in the industry: since 2015 it has brought together roughly 1,300 hotels in Italy and across Europe, and under the PHI Hotels brand it has built a group of 7 directly managed hotels.

‍The company has always paid particular attention to social and environmental sustainability, to the point of becoming a Società Benefit (Italy's benefit corporation status) in 2021.

To follow through on that commitment, Xenia came to Up2You to begin an environmental sustainability program covering 8 of the group's hotels.

Objective

Xenia S.p.A. came to Up2You to calculate the carbon footprint of 8 of its hotels, then have the calculation verified by a third party and publish it in its sustainability report.

Solution

Our team supported Xenia S.p.A. in analyzing and collecting the data needed to measure the company's carbon footprint.

Once the data was in, we calculated Scope 1 and 2 emissions and set up a decarbonization strategy for those emissions.

We then guided the company through emissions offsetting, drawing on our internationally certified offsetting projects and extending the scope to 8 of the group's hotels.
